I am happy to announce that updated, free versions of the IfcMax importer plugins for 3ds Max 2017 to 2026 are available.
The new builds are optimized for faster import and more stable geometry triangulation. An extensive import log is now printed to the Maxscript Listener to help with failed imports and IFC analysis. The plugins are based on the latest alpha version of the IfcOpenshell open source framework.
Please note:
To better understand the interest in the plugins, downloads now require registration with a valid email address.
Installation:
After downloading the zip file, simply extract and copy the plugin file matching your 3ds Max version to the 3ds Max plugins folder. All builds for the available 3ds Max versions come within a single zip file. Please don’t share the downloaded files, but forward this page to anyone interested instead.
Updates:
As IfcOpenshell is an ongoing project and the plugins are not extensively tested, errors and bugs may occur. Updates and fixes might be released silently at any time. Be sure to check the version string next to the download button from time to time.

IFC Import plugins for 3ds Max 2017-2026 based on the IfcOpenshell open source library.

Features of the advanced builds:
• Multithreaded import and geometry meshing
• Instancing support where possible ( IfcMappedItem )
• Hierarchies ( IfcProject->IfcSite->IfcBuilding … )
• Dedicated layer(s) for each imported IfcProject
• Import of 2d Shapes/Curves ( Annotations, FootPrint … )
All mentioned features are more or less work in progress.

When try to reg to your web ??
asks for login (after clicking download..) so not sure what to do
There is a “Register” link at the bottom of the login page. That can be used to register using a valid email adress.
